Copper head gasket?

Just aneal it before you put it back on. Of course if it's rubber coated that won't work so well...

If I recall correctly you aneal copper by heating it then quench cooling it, just the reverse of steel.
 
Annealing copper for a critical application like combustion sealing really ought to be done in an inert atmosphere... but sometimes going dead soft with a gas flame in the pits between rounds is what's required.

That makes sense, now do you use CO2 or Nitrogen or some other gas for shielding?
