Well I know its like beating a dead horse but please bare with me. I have been searching everyware yesterday & today. I know there is the the "lock N Stich" fix. My question is who as used this fix & how did it work for you? Or should I just look in to getting a new short block & re building it or get a long block & putting it in? If any of you have any ideas on ware to get a good block or have other options please help me out hear. Any Ideas & options would be GREAT!

TIA!

If you have less than 100,000 miles Cummins was coughing up parts as of last year

Ya I talked to Cummins today. They didnt say anything about the milage but they did say anything older than 8 years they could do nothing about:doh:

I thought it was funny that thay waited so long to begin with, how many of us have less than 100,000 miles on a VP truck? I'll bet it was more than thay thought and now thay have a time limit as well. $.02

BTW I did talk to Loc-N-Stitch they said they could fix the crack without pulling the motor for around $1800-$2000

Ya:bang All I know is THIS SUCKS!!!

I ran my truck with a 6" crack in the block for 2 weeks before I found out about Cummins replacing the blocks. Get yourself some Dyke & dump it in, that stuff will seal it until you find a block.

Dyke is what, like a stop leak you dump in to coolant system? Im stopping buy the auto parts store on the way home to buy some coolant & stop leak/sealant. Did you have mods when you had the crack?

I had small injectors & comp box untapped. Dyke is a awesome stop leak. They usually sell it at Big truck shops, but possibly Napa? I tried other junk from Advance auto & it didn't work...Dyke sealed it right away with no signs of leaks.

Location?? I know of a good non 53 block that i bought the head off of here in town, the truck was wrecked, and it punched a hole in the pan, i can get it cheap.

i have a block that needs a 20 over i could sell to you for a pretty good price

$1,800 for lock-n-stitch?

Wow. You could swap blocks for less than that.

Just some seals, bearings, a gasket or two, and rings.

moroso ceramic seal!!!! The best stuff in the world. It fixed a cracked head on my asphalt modified motor and lasted for 10 weeks. I bet it would have gone longer but it was time for a rebuild of that motor.
