Welcome to CompD

Anything that'll work on a 6 will work on your 4.
They are literally identicle except for cylinder count.

How much do you know about Cummins performance to start with ?

iv done a good bit of tinkering on the 6 and i have totally rebuilt my 4 i had it down to bare block about 2 months ago at school. i know the usaual pump work and things just wondering if anyone has anything they have tryed that arnt really out on the forums yet. thanks austin

as far as performance nothing but as far as work on it new rings, main bearings, and refaced all the valves and cut the seats as well i got the motor out of a bread truck and took it straight to school and tore it down to bare block and replaced everything that look the littest bit worn and checked all the serfaces on the cam and crank for any ware. i know the motor is sound to do things. i wanna strart by doing a little pump work and injectors then wanna go for some more air. im building the jeep to drive everyday so i wanna keep it some what affordable to drive as far as i have to everyday but i just cant keep it stock i know im not gonna build crazy power but at 2800 pounds i dont have to.

what are the numbers on that turbo

it's for a 160hp Deutz application. It's in PERFECT shape. T3 flange, wastegated. I was going to use it as the top turbo in a twin setup for a 4BT project we were thinking about building. I was going to hang a S366 under it.

There is a dedicated 4bt site. Twins, triples, rotary pumps, p style pumps. You can make big numbers from a 4bt. Just search 4bt swap on yahoo or something along those lines.

It would help to know what trans is behind it also, Chevy TH400 I assume?

And if it has the rotary VE or the sweet inline Ppump.

Forrest, I get the feeling over there that everyone is all about getting 35-40mpg out of their swap and seem to think that anything over 250hp is a waste. Do you get the same feeling?

Its got a muncie 465 4 speed behind it. And it has the ve pump*bdh* Id like a p pump but there hard to come by. yeah i have an account on 4bt swaps to but alot of them guys talk alot more about there swaps then they do there 4b's im not asking for 40 mpg cause i know i wont be able to keep my foot out of it enough to get that i think 250 is easyly attainable

I agree, most guys on there think turning up their 4bt is worthless and most are going for MPG, but there are a few making some good hp out of those little things.

Id also call Peak Diesel, Im pretty sure they just built a serious 4bt for Peter @ SBC for his mud rail.
