Has anybody built a set? Search results only brought a couple of threads but didn't have anything to do with what I was looking for. It'd be nice to have some that aren't large and bulky and just over the top. I really like these but without the bars on the front.

Theyre pretty straight forward designs. If I get a chance ill try and find the aluminum one I built for my super duty. I've built a few of them. Start at the frame brackets and work from centerline out.

^^^^^ best advice right there. Frame horns first. Built out. And take your time, spread the heat out. I warped a bumper bad trying to do one continuos weld. Wasted alot o money. I never took any pic of mine. Mine was Reunel like stackx2 with the beveled edges like posted above, along with recessed lights and a winch. Took it off for weight and speed purposes.

those are all sweet! i love the top bumpers! anybody else have any??? gettin ready to have one built so need more ideas!:woohoo:

Base bumpers weighs the same as stock...10 ga with proper engineering and gusset location...equals strong and light!

My buddy took one of those ranch hand ones and converted it to his liking, I will see if I can get a picture...looks a lot better than it did.

Here's what I started in my hour to myself after work. Took some 1/2"x4" and cut and marked all bend points.

Then I took it out to the press and broke it at the marked points.

This is just the begining of the center section. I'll will try to have it completed soon. I can normally get a hour after work to myself (wife, little guy).

Here is the progress I made after a 1.5 hour prework, 1 hour after work build. I finished off the center section by welding 3/16" plate to the back. I then cut the ends. I wanted the middle to follow the body line of our first gens. I follow the roughly 15 deg angle. Then beveled the top. Then tapered the bottom 2" of the ends. I also angled the ends inward as you move back. I plan on adding a clevis mounts, and a bolt on receiver. I'm contemplating hole for lights as well. I just don't know how crazy I want to go with a bumper thats going on something as simple as a first gen. Open to any suggestions

Looking good so far! I'm eager to see the finished product. This is inspiring me more!

Since mine is only 2wd, I'm looking for more of a simple design as I posted initially. Mainly for a stronger than factory bumper and probably house some lights in it too.

I wish I would have made the center section more of a v than a U. And maybe not as low as it is. That way the tubing to the center section isn't as abrupt. But I'm probably going to incorporate a fussed with a large hole for chains there. Going to make a opening for s winch cable as well so the option is always available.

I didn't like how the endcaps left the bottom corners exposed, so they were changed.

I sloped the center section so it wouldn't be so much of a shin catcher. Another gripe my dad and alot of farmers have around here is small safety chain holes. I wanted to throw a gusset between the center section and tubing, to kind of blend the transition. So the gusset now is a super sized safty hole.

I have a winch so I may build a fair lead mount like this. I am for sure going to add the receiver part, and throw the tow package in the barn. Sorry for the lack of progress I had a grinder wheel self-destruct in my face yesterday. So there was no after work progress. Got to go to urgent care ( where they dont move that way) to have the piece ground out of my eye! Lots o' fun.

Some more progress before work this morning. Building a which deck plate, frame horns, license plate light hole, and winch control hole. Then the fair lead and receiver brackets. After that she should be ready to mount.
