Decompression and engine theory.

you lower your compression so you can run more boost and boost you can cool intake and cylinder temps through intercooler or chemical means... even just striaght boost is much cooler than cylinder temps. With engine compression, it is very hard to control cylinder temps and so power cannot be as easily and reliably made without much more stress on engine components (more heat)

"Overrated"
I could tell ya that taking .100" off a street truck is not a good thing..:hehe:
Compression gives a mechanical advantage.
"Most" everything has its place though, tons of timing and boost along with lots of water and or nitrous ya cutting static cyl. pressure some makes pleanty of since but.........

My head was surfaced .010, .020 marine gasket, and cut .030 off top of pistons. Timing is at 18* and I get good fuel mileage for the mods and 5x18;s I'm running. Does any body have an idea of what my cr is?

With .050 extra space I would not have thought it would be that low.

Now here the wierd thing. Even with all the mods Performance Car & Truck did, no poo I can get 21-23mpg on they highway. 24mpg if i keep it at 55-60.

a .020" thicker headgasket will drop compression 1 full point. then add in however much the .030" off the piston will drop the compression.
