Detroit Repower ???

Here is the deal,

I want to do a detroit repower on an upcoming project. My goal is an 8V53 twin turbo in a 2WD 1950 chevy rat truck.

My problem is finding one and a manual transmission to bolt up to it. Any help with this would be great.

my buddy did a 53 gmc rat truck with a 453 i think he used a clark 5sp with a browny 3sp behind it.. bad ass truck, air ride, air starter, jakes. doesnt make much power yet but has the non turbo blower and a turbo, has some injectors in it.. just sounds so bad

If you're willing to go 8V53 it will be vastly easier to find equipment for a 6V92 (masses of buses use them), it will fit in about the same space and you get an extra 128cuin of power! Or, a 6V71 would have the same power while occupying less space.

my understanding is that the 71 and 92 series shared the same block while the 53 had a smaller block. ill do some more research when i can

but a the 53 series will rev a lot higher then a 92 series and weighes less... the 8v53's are very rare though.
