Dirty Diesels @ Stumps Garage Dec. 7th

Andy, the "outdated" EFILive software was their public release at the time....you should know that man.
The only CSP5 system currently out is a pre-release, full public final release is coming soon.

Andy, I don't believe in playing/experimenting with beta or pre-release on anyone's truck.

I won't touch the "prior" numbers that the truck put down, pre EFILive, that's another topic but also points toward the truck being maxed out and it's slowly getting weaker every year. Time to freshen IMO.

All I know is your truck was running out of fuel at it's current power level and needs the high pressure pumps looked at because they are laying down at any higher pulse levels.

Whenever hard part replacement or upgrades were brought up, you threw a fit about it....supposedly.
I guess last off, if you can tune better, I say go for it Andy. What's holding you back anyway?
When the truck puts down significantly more power without changing any hard parts, let me know and I'll take my lumps. Right now the truck is telling me by the numbers it's pretty much tapped out and getting tired.

Also, I've got nothing in it with this "contract" between you and other people and don't care to be involved. Sounds like a civil issue to me though.

Andy, I do know that I don't pay for other people's toys and wouldn't expect anyone to pay for mine.

I got nothing against you Andy but asking anyone other than yourself to pay for your toy just isn't right. Complaining about it and getting mad isn't the solution either.

I am curious why you're putting any parts on the truck if it was capable of all this additional power with the prior setup?

Chuck, you don't think the "pumps laying down" could have had anything to do with rpm limit?

refresh me, how does a cummins ecm limit rpm, does it wait till set rpm to be hit, then pull fuel, or does it start pulling fuel as the rpm limit draws near?

as for high pulse levels, I thought we did not need such long pulses with huge injectors, due to the injectors ability to deliver so much fuel, in a short amount of time, allowing for the pulse width to be narrow, and more precise in regard to when the fuel should be there to make optimal power. Spreading the width out just makes for fuel before you want it, and after.
as to curiosity about parts ordered for his truck, maybe you guys told him enough times he needed them, that he finally believed you? Or for reasons of going beyond what he has now? Do you think his truck build is done? not likely, we are always looking for more. Just because his truck lost a year, does not mean he did not make plans to take the next steps. I know if it were my truck sitting that long, I would be cruising the net, looking for the next piece, the latest and greatest so when I did get my truck back, I could test what was done, and move to the next mod, see what that gained me, then move to the next and so on.

CSP-5 is Publicly Released...been for a few weeks now.

Since Nov 7. NOT while the truck was being "worked on" months ago.
Prior software was Beta.

You're right about bigger injectors not needing big pulse, that's not new news....there's much more to the issue than that..which most aren't aware of.
Problem is the wall was hit at the time for CP3 delivery at a relatively small pulse....however, the pumps on the truck are capable of way way more power... FCA response and pressure was very erratic......believed to have been caused by "other" isssues.

I had a very good talk with Hammer last night about several issues and admittedly, we should have covered the previous issues through PMs but people eat this stuff up.

There are some major issues we discussed that aren't in this thread that are most likely why the truck was acting very very flakey, etc. You can only do so much when the system being tuned is reacting in an unpredictable manner and isn't working as it should....I'll leave it at that.

In closing, I trully wish Hammer success with the truck. I'm confident and have faith that with his well thought out and methodical approach, he WILL achieve his goals and the truck will become a major player in the Diesel Scene without the aid of the peanut gallery.:rockwoot:
