distance to empty= fuel gauge

I'm running a 08 f550 with the 6.4 diesel. Thr fuel gauge will drop to empty, and the distance to empty read out will show zero. I've replaced the fuel gauge sender. It still happens. Any ideas?:what:

Nope. I knew it had fuel init. Luckly it has a dump box on it. I raised the box, pulled the sender out. Replaced the sender, but it will still drop to empty. Does not always do though.

How much fuel is in it when it happens?

It could be a bad wire on the harness to the tank.

It could be full or at half tank, it does not seem to matter. I did ckeck the harness, all looked good. I wonder if it some module controling gauge.

maybe a short somewhere. or the float inside maybe messed up.

Took truck to dealer. They found a broken wire in main harness. Or course not under warrenty.:stab:
