Ok I found a 2002 single cab 1ton single axle 4x4 auto dmax. I am considering buy it to make a seld puller. Can anyone give me any advice??? I am very familar with the 12 and 24 valve cummins and am considering a dmax cause of cost. I really think that with around $5000 of add ons i should be all over 550hp on the dmax. What are your thoughts?

well a tranny will be at least 4k, and you will need to upgrade the front end components, and EFILive, exhaust, intake, gauges, traction bars, A lift pump of some sort would probably put you around 500 i would imagine. The next upgrades would be dual cp3's and a upgraded turbo would put you around 600 i would imagine!!!

From what i have seen a converter and some other little upgrades in the tranny are good for up to 550. But thats not from experince on my end.
What does the efi live run cost wise????

My personal take, is that you can get to 550hp fairly easy. You'll need a tranny at that level, for sure. Depending on your ability and desire, you can do it for about $3500-5000+ depending on how wild you want to be. The EFI and lift pumps will get you close to 500, and should set you back between $1200-$1500. but I don't think it'll be enough by itself. Upgraded turbo would probably be next on the list, and that's probably $2500+ at least. You should get 500hp with that setup easy, but watch the rods. They like to turn into spaghetti when you get much over 500hp.
To pull, you'll need some tie-rod sleeves and a centerlink brace for sure, I'd recommend cognito's steering upgrades as wellThat will set you back about $700. Getting pricey now. This should give you some ideas and a close approximation for the costs associated with it. Bottom end builds are big money once you get past this step.

Built bottom end, dual CP3's, and a big turbo, and some improved airflow. It ain't cheap, but it can be done.

U can make 600 hp with a built tranny and after market turbo with efi live and lift pump. for about 6,000 depending on how much turbo will run you u will be 600 hp all day long.

Personally, sounds like it has more potential as a dragracer than a sledpuller....

Ok so a Aurora 5000 turbo, tranny upgrade.

What cp3 is the best to run???
Injectors
Engine hardparts. Where???
Headwork. Where???

Will the efilive do everything thats need as far as programming???

My thoughts also but i just get a better rush out of pulling. My truck is running in the low to mid 13's.

What would the dmax with 600hp run in the 1/2

I got to get it off my mind. Finally found a post over on dieselplace that kindof turned me off. I am a dumn ***anyways i should just drop my raymac in get a clutch and go with it. Be a lot less trouble.

All the advise on the dmax build is greatly appricated keep it comming.

What class do you want to run in?

You can't be really competitive in anything but Work Stock with just $5k in your pocket.

Well i want to set the truck up for a 2.8 class and since the rules allow for a bushing just bushing it down to the 2.6. I was just using the $5000 as a starting point.

Well its still in the air. I am going to wait until we go to ts to check out some of the dmaxs pull up there. If i end up doing it i am going to go all the way with the motor and go ahead and drop another $10000 in it.

dont think it would be $10000 a little less than that

Just the fact that i would have one of the only dedicated dmax pullers in my area.

It Not Cheap Thats For Sure. Bet You Will Need Every Bit Of 10 G Most Likley More.
