what are some good mods to do to front axle, anyone tired a detroit tru trac? is the gears std or rev rotation? I plan to go with 4.88's

I used an ARB back in the dayz, as it was easier to move around the pits, some guys just weld it up or use a spool. You can also go with larger axles from Haisley/Schieds which convert the right side to a one piece as well. I assume you have the D60.

EMS Offroad has the larger axles. I have a D60 I need to go through. Here is what I ahve for it

ARB
35 Spline Inner axles(One Piece passenger)
35 Spline outers
EMS Lockout kit
Spicer Super Joints
I have drive hubs to replace the warn premium lockouts. If you do the above the lockouts will be your weak point. The drive hubs are easy to change(4 bolts) if I want to put the lockouts on, since the superjoints are a bearingless design, they don't like the heavy street use.

You can weld up your open carrier as long as your CAD works you won't have any issues. Only thing is when ever the left front wheel is turning you will be turning the front drive shaft. Turning will be very hard when xfer case is in 4wd.

FYI Van said they upgraded rock hard rams outers, but off constantly was still running the stock outers. One thing to remember if you blow the stock outers don't move the truck. The wheel could fall off. That is one of the reasons I chose to upgrade the outers to the lockout kit. Since yours is a high mileage truck your unit bearings could be in pretty bad shape anyway. I would seriously consider the lockout kit before you buy new unit bearings.

I did:
ARB 30 Spline
Gears Standard Rotation
New Spicer Axle Joints
Posi-Loc

P.S. I shyed away from the spacer due to how when you put the ring gear on the carrier it has sort of a light press at the end to center the ring gear on the carrier, the spacer doesnt have this lip that I know of, so all that centers the ring gear are the bolts too scary for me.........

Using a spacer on the D60 is fine, I have talked to several shops. Using the spacer on the D80 is a no no. First off you can't even buy a spacer for a D80.

My current setup uses a 30 spline, but I don't have the most faith in that setup. I havent' had any issues with it yet, but I figured if I am upgrading I am gonna go with the 35 splines.

i just replaces the wheel bearings assembly when i bought it they where toast

I use the EMS 35 spline kit. The passenger wheel seal starting leaking right away. (no biggie, I don't drive it on the street much, I put 500 miles on this year!)

I've been happy with setup but I am putting different gears in and am just about done with EMS as I have called 7 or so times already for new seals and they don't call back!!

Or you can just buy a 3rd gen and have a turn-key stout driveline.....

Copycat!!! :poke:

I had an idea think the lock outs and wheel bearing units from a ford with a dana 60 will fit on a dodge?

I think the knuckle where the spindle bolts on is diffrent.

I have a complete EMS set to go in my D60 I just need a chance to get it done.
35 spline inners, and outers, ARB, Superjoints, and billet hub drivers. Problem with running lockouts up front is they aren't the strongest setup. Should be removed and drive hubs should be installed.

I'm with Zstroken--all EMS 35 spline stuff sitting in the garage for the last 3 months--just no time to do it---I had the ARB and it broke once, but now I'm going to spool it due to the lock out hubs---just need the time---
