dodgeamax mega cab

the chevy is a early 04. the tag says 4-04 build date im not sure what motor it is i am not very familiar with the duramax stuff so any advise is greatly appreciated.
 
Is it just me or is it kinda weird that you are doing a rare, and high level swap, but know nothing about the engine going in it? Seems like you are doing stuff backwards. I hope all goes well and it looks sweet so far, just a little curious.....
 
Good luck with this project, check the VIN, if the 8th digit is a 2, then it's an LLY (I'm guessing it is, I believe all model year 04's built after Jan 1 were LLY's), if it's a 1, then it's an LB7.
 
ive done a lot of motor swaps just not a duramax, i am doing the motor last because it runs perfect now and i want to work out all the bugs with the suspension first then do the motor, i have everything i need to do the swap except for the new harness.

Yes, i had a truck break down so i just set it in there while i fixed the truck it wasn't Hooked up lol

Good lord that chevy got smoked! Hard to believe it didnt hurt the engine! Good luck with it man! And always love some pictures!
 
They have a lot of them and they sell them for 1,000-1500. Mine cost 2300 to my door and i got the tailgate tail lights and rear bumper
 
Now thats my kinda rig! Long bed mega cab.. ample cab space along with my desired bed space! Lookin good!
 
Might as well put headstuds in while the motor is out and delete the egr.
