Any comments on the dodgezilla turbo for the secondary in a set of compounds. If I got it, it would be a the hx35 16cm non gated housing with an external gate.

Was do some searching and it looked like someone comment on the shaft possible breaking if run to hard.

Thanks
Adam

I ran one of those with a wastegated 14cm housing both as a single and with a 3B in a twins setup. Nice charger for a 500hp twins setup.

I am looking to make around 700rwhp. I called the guys at city diesel and they made 636 with it (14 cm external gate) so i figured a 16 cm wastegated housing would get me there. I know people have made close to 700 with a hx35/ht3b setup right?

Thanks
Adam

You may have missed this part of Ron's post:

I think Got-Torque did almost 600hp with the dodgzilla/S400 combo? Maybe he will comment.

My truck has the same egts on the dyno now at 880hp as my Dodgezilla/3B setup had at 507hp.

I am not saying you are wrong RonA at all I am just telling you what the guy at City Diesel told me.

So you do not think it is a plausible turbo for 700 rwhp? Which one would you recommend then.

The reason I ask is because my hx35 has some shaft play in it and I did not want to spend 1900$ on a turbo so I thought this might be a good option being that others have made close to this with the stock hx35/ ht3b combo (from what I have read).

Thanks

If you've got it, might as well use it. I think Olee Poole made a set with an s400 that did 780 w/nitrous.

so you're saying that someone trying to sell you a turbo told you what you wanted to hear? sounds like a good salesman! :D

if your HX35 is on its way out, put an HE351 on top

Ok I do not have the turbo I just thought it might be a decent one for the price, and it seems from what everyone is saying it is not a good way to go.

So what would be a good turbo as a secondary to make 700rwhp?

For the money, a HX35/40 over a S400 isn't a bad setup for 500-600 hp. I peaked out at 593 with the exact set that Olee made. Gus was the first owner of them and dyno'd as Ron mentioned above upper 700's on nitrous. At full tilt on my setup, it did get toasty.

With the option now of running a HE351 which you can find cheaper than a HX35/40, I wouldn't even consider it.

If you want to keep the quicker spool up, one of my favorites was a 64/71 over 75/83/1.1 S400. You could probably get by with a 62mm top charger and be a bit faster spooling with only a 35hp or so loss. I made 711with that setup and it was a blast to drive. It is hard on stuff thoough because it hits pretty hard when it goes.

706 a long time ago but who is counting, that was not the best setup, Take RonA's advise he's built and tested more Twin setups than any of us have......and I agree with 500 hp, ok maybe 550.
