so i been thinking bout the direction i wana go with my first gen in the future and im thinking bout when i get another truck to use for a daily driver that i wana fix my first gen up and make a part time sled puller. right now my truck has a ve pump that was stock when i bought the truck. pump was said to be replaced a year before i bought it. ( i bought the truck a year ago). not sure if its a new or rebuilt pump. it has a sticker on the pump from the diesel shop that did the work so i know its a different pump. i turned the fuel up my self advanced timing denny t pin 3200 goiv spring. still running my factory injectors. so question is i been thinking bout buying new injectors but looking at spending around $500 and when its all said and done ima still only guna be looking at bout 300hp from what ive read. so would i be better off putting that money towards a p pump swap. talking just putting a stock pump lines and injecotrs on and modifying as i go. seems more senseable to me then spending 500 on injectors that wont make me competitive in pulling later on. also my concern is my getrag i just had it fully rebuilt and im currently running a single disk valair rated at 400hp. i know right away il need a dual disk clutch but im curious as to wether my freshly rebult rag can with stand pulling later on down the road when i mod the engine alot more (500 hp or more) sorry bout the long post and thanks in advance for any help

also wanted to ask based on what ya know about my ve pump what kind of money could i sell it for to make back up for the cost of the p pump swap? thanks

well, if you still running intercooled injectors you are not even close to getting power potential out of the ve pump, but if your gonna sledpull you need the p-pump for hi rpm fuel.

i know theres alot of potential left in the ve and i know i can be competitive with my ve, but im looking at power potetial for the dollar. im afaird once i spend 500 on injectors i will want more and not be satisfied with it and want to p pump it. but hey i guess i could always sell my injectors to if i decide to p pump it

If I had to build my truck again, I would have p-pumped it from the start. You could throw a lot of time and money into your ve and get middle to upper finishes at the track, but in the long run the p pump will end up being cheaper with more power down the line.

Some people pull with power, some with a good set-up.
Wanna' guess what Pulltilbroke has, since he's running a "junk VE"?

All the power in the world won't make the tires stay to the ground.
Many times less power will outpull big power.

Mark.

Do the p-pump conversion. The VE is a waste of time.

Here is my VE puller with 6x16 inj and a 66mm turbo. The pump is maxed out except for a 14mm head.
The last two weekends it has been running real well. This pull was 19.7mph down the track and 312ft.
I think the Ve pump knows that this winter the p-pump swap is going down, its showing out now!

I have been running the Getrag for over three years pulling no problem, this year it is close to running around 450hp.

Well I've made my mind ima do a p pump swap, no offense against the ve, I love my ve but dollar for dollar i'l get alot more from the p pump. Thanks for the info on the getrag I was curious how well it would hold to pulling.

If thats what you want to do, do it. But FYI My truck has the usual suspect mods and a DennyT, THATS IT!!

I have found that setup and being able to read a track are the most important things to sled pulling. I suppose power is a factor too, but I compete with trucks that make twice the HP as me and I'm always right in the mix in the top 5.

I know the VE will stay on my junk.

Heres a few of my decent hooks this year.

well im just always looking for sumthing to tinker on and this is going to be my winter project. your right though a well setup truck and a driver who can read the track has a way better advantage. i plan on setting mine up correctly as far as traction bars hitch sled stops suspension stops. as for the knowledge it will take a little while lol. what kind of clutches are yall running?

keep the VE! pulltillbroke too you guys do what all those guys with newer trucks say we cant. Im sticking with the VE cuz who doesnt have a 600-1000hp P Pump? i dont have the money to play in that field

well i can keeping spending money on the ve or i can swap my my p-pump that i got a great deal on and can do basiclly anything i want with the p pump so im going that way.

Injectors dont make power, the combination makes power. Keep that in mind. You can have all the fuel you want, but if you dont have the air to clean it up, your still makin 350 hp. And you can bolt up any t3 turbo to these things whether its a p7100 or a ve...

Something to think about.

yes this iam aware of. its all one step at a time. a turbo will come next in the line up and also a new clutch. the debate is always wither to add more fuel first or to add more air. but ima have bout 600 dollars in my pump swap compared to 1,700 or more for a turbo so i went that route first
