Looking for good pics of driveshaft loops. did the search thing but I know there are some trick ones out there. need to redo mine and checking to see how you all made them.
Thanks Cumins01

Silverram can you send the pics to skeehner@ohiocat.com the computer won't open them on this site but I should be able to open them thru my e-mail. I have a reg cab 01 with a standard trans. Thanks for the pics

Talk to Aaron at HD fabrication, he is a member on here. Great guy, I think that for what he charges it isnt worth while to try and make them yourself

Apparently you have to be a member to view them on that site.

I dont think so. Safety should be #1 priority. Rather have everything be contained than hit someone in the stands and have a lawsuit on your hands.....

and my latest on my super street ford.

i agree 100% but i would think that one at each end of the shaft and one in the center would suffice. the shaft isn't going to break into 100 pieces, maybe the yoke but not the whole shaft. just seems like alot of wasted time to make a full length one. At that point why not just sleeve the whole shaft w/ some 1/8" tubing?

not debating how it's done, just thinking out loud.

is it me or is that a little overkill?

Those are just above what the rules state.
1/4" X 6" long collars over the u-joints is the rule, those collars are 1/4"X 8"

The rules also state there has to be a minimum of 1 loop in the middle of the rear shaft. I put 2 or 3 depending on the rear shaft configuration. And only the front Ujoint on the front shaft is covered on my sets. Though I need to cover the ones at the T-case just because it's safer, but not required in the rules.

So no, it's not overkill. #1 As Yoshi said, safety is first priority, when you pull at this level, or any level for that matter, a driveshaft sticking out of a fan is no good.

#2. They just look cool, and I build them that way because I can.

Sweet pieces for sure. Can you give us an idea on cost range?

In light of saving an argument, I don't sell them. These are just trucks on our sled pulling team. But all those sets, there is only about $200 worth of materials in each of them. If you can cut and weld pipe, you can build them. They are not hard to build, just extremely time consuming and about a million trips under the truck fitting them.

ha like i said not debating the way you do it. They do look cool though.

here is the start of mine.

Those are some nice looking loops. I thought about adding some middle loops, i might have to now since i have a few ideas. Thanks for sharing..
