Dropping a 2wd 01

Nah. I just exercise them on a daily basis. Only test them on special occasions. LOL

i've been planning on doing this for a while. I've already taken out the 1" block. I still need LS rear end before i do anything, but my plan is to take out 2 leaves, and get Caltracs. Anybody done this or somethin similar?

The only way I would take out springs is if I had airbags going back on it where I could put it at the desired height I wanted it but I could air them up some where I could still pull a little.

Well I would buy the beer if I was 21! I do have a couple airbags if anyone wants to donate a compressor and air tank and we could take some springs out and do all that fun stuff and see how good it works! Then yall can go do the same!

Project X sits pretty low........ I'll call Greg tomorrow and see what they did to it.

NE of dallas in sulphur springs. Working conditions suck! I can get my g/f's grandpa's shop occasionaly but other than that about it.

I'm not sure exactly where Sulpher Springs is.......... but NE of Dallas fills me with pre-emptive road rage.

Come to chat, we'll negotiate.

I could of sworn with two pages of posting, someone would of chimed in with some pointers or a website with details on how to do it. Update the post if any of ya'll find out the best way to lower it. I'm interested in lowering my 02

Wow, we totally hijacked this thread.......... Sorry BCS.

Ok the best thing I can find to level a 2wd 01 is a 1.5 inch front suspension lift kit. It's not a good idea to go much higher cuz the a arms hit. And there is apparently no good way to drop the back of the truck. 4WheelParts gave me a part number for the a daystar kit KC09103BK, they're about $42 and if they don't have them in stock they can get them the next day. Just for information purposes I asked what the labor charge would be to have them install it and it was $240 (3 hours at $80/hr).

well like crewgirl said... Just raise the front up! It will be a 2" coilover spacer. If you have just a few basci tools you can probably do it your self. I myself and getting a 3inc in the front and one in the rear just gives you a little more clearance and looks real nice I don't want to look like I have 4wd but I do wanna get up under it to work on it with out a lift and a one inch lift is not really much at all and the three inch in the front will just level it out plus add an inch call your nearest performance shop they can probably tell you how to go about it!!!

Well I am just not in favor of lifteing the front any on a 2wd thats me. Im going to probably just take out a 1" block in the back and probably find a shackle kit or cut some springs and add airbags. More prices but fits the truck better if you ask me. I love the fuel milage out of my 2wd and lifting the front wont do anything for milage.

Anna, Bear IK will get a pic of mine so you know what it looks like. Look at ground force shackles. It went down 1 1/2 inches or close to it. It is a 3 hour job but 80 bucks an hour holy crap thats high.

I lowered my truck 3" in the rear and it is level with 32.5" rear and 31" on the front. I went to 35" on the rear ant ther rear is a little higher than the front and looks good. Just is notiseable with a 4" taller rear tire on a 2 wheel peel truck. 2" lowering shackle on the rear of the spring, the 1" or 1 1/2" block removed and the frame overload frame tabs I had to remove because of slaping noise when hitting bumps. The rear shackles that beltech has shows up to 2000 but my truck is a 2001. I had to drill the holes bigger on both mounting holes cause the older models are smaller bolts. I am still considering changing the front spring mounts to lower some more. I am just worried being a long wheel base that it would high side in the middle.:blahblah1:

Could yall have the arch in the stock springs reduced by a spring shop?

I know they can re-arch springs that have settled...
