I have a real hard time believing that was just a programmer?

He must have gotta a hold of one of Timbeaux's superchippers, huh Phil? LOL

The only problem with that theory is the other pistons didn't seem to have any marks on them from the valves. Doesn't mean it didn't happen though. The piston is obviously cracked, but I think that the valve spring keepers probably failed and it dropped the valve.

I highly doubt a programmer contributed to that, something had to let go & then chain reaction started.

when will people learn that either and glow plugs dont mix

had an idiot friend that had a failing CP3 from running his truck out of fuel 2 or 3 times a week and would start it with ether cause the CP3 was just wore out (truck had 165K on it) and one cold winter day he hit it with ether and it took a big gulp in one cylinder and bent a rod.......2004 LB7 with EVERY option but a sun roof, 6 inch lift, all black.......what a shame, its been setting in his yard for almost a year and 6 months of that with no front end on it waiting on me to tear the motor the rest of the way out......

hell for 22k i would of took him to dinner and gave him a kiss on the back of the neck before jamming it in.......

he had already spent 27k on the truck and it had 152,000 miles on it, found the same truck 1 week later for 25K with only 52,000 miles on it.......but he says he got a GREAT deal.....

he spent almost 1,000 more for his lift kit than he should of, spent about 500 more on wheels and tires than he should of, spent 800 dollars on 5 inch exhaust i could of gotten for about 500, plus bought a second set of wheels and tires for 1300, and bought a stereo system for like 700...

then popped a head gasket and spent ALOT of money doing that (it was a good price and the mechanics did a good job) but he kept annoying them and didnt want to spend money, so that cost him......

IF THE GUYS THAT WORKED ON THE TRUCK READ THIS (YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE AND WHAT TRUCK IM REFERING TOO) YOU DID A GOOD JOB......IT WASNT YOUR FAULT THE TRUCK DIDNT RUN WHEN YOU GOT IT AND THERE WAS ALOT MORE UNDERLYING PROBLEMS.....

so in total he has about 50K in a truck that dosent run and has set for like 10 months with a bent rod.......

Hey LOGANSTANFORTH, ask your buddy if he wants to buy my PSD injectors.....I'll be happy to take $1000 more than they are worth.:Cheer:

Lots of "experts" in that forum offering valuable insight

ya I was going to say the same thing.

"ooo he was probably running propane and an edge"

does anyone even use propane anymore.......?

My bet is just on a "freak accident" type of thing. THose guys are saying over-revved? First of all thats what the rev limiter is for, and second of all, you are not going to hurt anything revving a dmax high. Buncha guys who sled pull hold them at 4500 with stock valve train and dont have any problems.

Wow, theres of course no way to overcome a rev limiter, with something like EFI Live

:umno:

Ya so what we have free reved much higher stock, I highly doubt that an over rev killed 1 and only 1 cylinder. We have pulled the sled at 4500 on totally stock except for FASS.

if it was "over revved" it would have left "eyebrows" in the pistons from piston to valve contact. The other ctlinders looked good with the exception of foriegn objects from the bad hole cross contaminating them.
