I just ordered an edge drag comp for my 99 cummins. My truck is mainly stock it has a 100hp hotrod VP44, Suncoast valve body, and a stock converter with billet cover. Now I no I should not run it on 5x5, but what would be a good level to put it on just to screw around and have a little power and fun without killing the transmission? Has anyone ever had an edge on a stock truck? Any information would greatly help. :thankyou2:

Thanks Chris

Once you tap that wire the HRVP will be nothing more than an SO vp. Run the drag comp on level 5 and don't do boosted launches or burnouts and your transmission will be alright.

A lot of it will depend on the history of the truck/trans. A good friend of mine toasted his converter with only a Juice (similar hp as the comp), and he didn't do anything harsh like boosted launches.

my cummins can kill a stock tranny with an edge juice and some other mods in 5 weeks i know im about to put an ats in it

Yeah i already have a good VB so i guess i will be doing a converter sooner than i wanted.. lol. Thanks for all of your input. Keep the input coming i am interested to hear more about people with a drag comp

Thanks Chris

Well lets see here. My truck was bone stock with 30,000 on the clock when I installed my Drag Comp, intake, and exhaust. Then came the DDP110's and HTT turbo. After I got bored with that combo. I went crazy, and bought some DDP Comp 250's and an S475. I didnt do any boosted launches with that combo. I hammered on it quite a few times. It sucked for driving though. Then I switched to a 62/71/14 from HTT and some SDX 150's. Thats a good street combo. Much more driveable, but the tranny died the first time I took it out. Finally after 60,000 miles of abuse my freak of a stock trans had enough.

Once you tap that wire the HRVP will be nothing more than an SO vp.
Never heard of this... So leaving the wire un tapped would be better or worse? Im not much on VP trucks

^ wow, should have bought a lotto ticket with that kind of luck keepin that freak alive that long lol

With just the comp box you should be ok for a while as long as you don't have it on 5x5 ALL the time leaving every stop hard, just drive it kind of smart which it sounds like you probly will

I ran 150's, comp, and a 62mm turbo for two years on a bone stock 60k mile trans with nothing but a DTT vb and never had an issue. And I religiously beat on mine. No boosted launches or burn outs though.

Thanks a lot for the input. Yeah i think i ill be ok for a little while. The tranny was rebuilt before i bought the truck. Can't believe you guys could put injectors, turbo, and all that on a stock tanny!

These transmissions are tougher than people make them out to be if you use a little common sense.

Yeah, I didn't think the dodge tranny's were that bad but everyone makes then out to be so idk. I will be rebuilding the tranny this summer probably

75k on my truck, no boosted launches, had been running an Edge EZ, then a drag comp with no wire tap for about 20k miles... 3 weeks after tapping the wire... trans would slip if I got on it hard... it just got worse from there... Upping the line pressure would help I think... I never did. But it did last me another 6 months until I could afford to go to Goerand Bros. I just couldn't turn it up, cuz it would slip on any setting on the edge.
