if i get an egr block off plate do i have to worry about any side effects that could hurt the truck

You may get a check engine light. This can be turned off in the programing of the computer.

Should not hurt anything, I have done it to mine. If you are worried about any check engine lights just do a vin check to see if it is a california truck.

you'll get a code, that's all. you can get that turned off, no big deal. I'd much rather have it blocked then have that crap going back into my motor. after I did this I had to take my intake off to drill and tap for my boost gauge. That stuff looked like road tar and made me wish I'd done this mod a lot sooner.

Are you having issues with your EGR Coolers? I know this is a common problem for Powerstrokes, wasn't sure if Duramax's have this issue as well.

not problems just blocking it off so it doesn't recirculate back to the engine
