electric water pumps

Sorry for the ignorance but i dont quite understand what you guys are using them for. Are you using them to cut coolant pressure when pulling or when do you turn the electric pump on?

The issue with the cummins electric water pump is so many folks seem to see failures out of them.

I want to use the electric after the run to cool the motor while running the electric fan. I will use the oem pump while pulling. I don't have pressure issues with it cause i have removed the internals of the thermostat.

ok i'm plannin on putting electric fans and electric water pump on this winter can i just cut the blades on factory water pump and run electric under heavy load to try and cut coolant pressures?

i sold them for 4 years and only had one failure, which was running on 16volts. Jegs $300 pumps killed it for me.

If it is a dedicated puller than i would gut the thermostat and leave the blades as they are. If it is a daily driver i would shave the blades a little. My truck sees 5k rpm every run and i only removed the internals on the thermostat and have never had a freeze plug issue.

it still sees some daily driving so just shave the blades and shouldn't have to put an electric pump on it then?
