Electrical problem help asap

Pulled into the gas station and left the truck running opened the doors and the locks just went wild started locking and unlocking, I turned the key off and it went away but as soon as I turn the key on it does it again, nothing on the cluster works but the truck runs and drives?????
 
Does your OD light on the stick turn on and off? it probably broke the wire i at the column and shorted out.
 
yup, actually a week later i was in the truck and went to put it in reverse and i heard a sizzle and a pop and smoke comeing through the steering wheel, took the cover off later that night and it had rubbed through the wire and shorted it out in two different spots, is this pretty common?
 
It's hit and miss on the shorting out, my wire just broke so now I can't turn off OD.
Were you able to put the Magic Smoke back in ? LOL
