Ever since haviing 2 leafs added to my rear suspension, my brakes have never been the same. I know its because the proportioning valve isn't functioning properly due to the added height. Has anyone eliminated the proportioning valve on the rearend? Results?

I've seen where guys have changed the rod to a threaded rod and made it adjustable. My truck doesn't have one even though I've got the camper package.

I'm considering eliminating it all together. You have disc brakes right?

Yup. I've also heard of guys disconnecting the rod and zip tieing it to the frame in the full on position to help with rear braking. Careful though cause it could lock your rear tires up.

It's gone. I removed it when I swapped in the D80 after the 70 gave up the ghost.

If you flod the bar up horizontaly it will be in the max braking position. Picture as you add weight and the bed sinks and the bar rizes.

where is it at doing brakes and rotors in the morning might as well take that crap off to

I disconnected mine and tied it off horizontal to the frame and it works fine. I adjust my rear brakes out so they grab a little more than the fronts. For me it works better like that when towing.

They have never locked up on you during a quick stop?

Never locked up but when I hit the brakes I feel the rear grab quickly. With normal driving even with a trailer in tow I don't have to give it alot of brake pedal to slow down or stop.

Have you ever had to do a fast stop with trailer in tow? Thats where my problem comes into play.

Yes, My big gooseneck is 10k empty and when I bought it used we couldn't get the trailer brakes working and had to slam the brakes for a traffic backup. But also remember when the truck is empty it's alot lighter in the rear than when you even have an empty trailer behind you. With weight on the truck it shouldn't lock up. Just disconnect it and tie it to the frame and try it. If it is locking than adjust your brakes out a little.
