Engine Balance

With this new build I just assembled using the same crank and rods in their same location....I just didn't weigh each monotherm to see if they were close....I assume if there not too far off, I should still be pretty well balanced..?

To state the obvious, it will depend on what the range of weight is on the pistons. Without measuring them, it is next to impossible to speculate on if it will be "pretty well balanced".

Yes it is good that the crank is balanced and the rods also, but as stated in prior posts, getting the entire rotating assembly balanced together is important. How important it is in your case (CR) I have no good answer for.

Thanks man!!

Guess we'll see tmrw. or Thrus....It should be ok as high rpm's (4k+) is not my goal but is possible with SSR....If my tranny will let it shift that high but usually shifts in the low / mid 3's....

Can't imagine Mahle would have large variations in weight since I here they are mainly produced for Marine applications....

I'll ask John R. or Chris (Joesixpack) if they weighed their's before install...

Thanks again!

Don't be afraid to include balancing the big-ends of the rods (W/bearings).

Ditto!

My guy balances the crank, dampener, and flex plate/flywheel. Then averages the weight of the pistons, rings, clips, pins, rods, and bearings.

This is also what was done on mine when it had it's build. $$$ well spent IMO.

You scare me Swole, all that money for your new rebuild and the high $$ pistons and you didn't get it all re-balanced?? Come on now......:poke:

Got a name/number? How fast is he? Reasonably priced?
Havent' found very many people in ATX willing to balance flywheel & crank.
