Engine build advice please.

Have you thought about getting the internals balanced? I have a buddy who had his 96 12 valve done and it made an incredible difference.

Why go all out for a daily driver with a stick shift? A stock engine will handle 500 Hp just fine. No need to spend the cash on P&P, Cam, HP Coatings, etc. Better off to spend the money on a sweet set of twin turbos. Fast spooling, better egt control, and better resell value when you decide to get into a different truck.

With only 88K, why mess with new bearings, rings, etc? An abused motor with 88K will last another 300K if you keep up on the oil changes.

Your money, your truck, but in my opinion, if not going for a full out purpose built truck, no need to go that deep. That's why you, me, and my neighbor bought a cummins, it's already built right from the factory!
This is all true. But I dont know how this motor was takencare of or serviced. So thats why I am wanting to do a rebuild on it & start fresh. & doing it this way I can put the parts in it I want & build it the way I want & that way I know exactly whats in it & how its maintained. And yes I am wanting to do twins on it someday. I would like to put a Garrett GT4202R under the GT3788R thats on it now.
