My tailpipe is rotting & I'm not sure what I want to do? I think a single black mitre cut would look good with the new orange paint. Then I wonder if I should just replace the tailpipe [muffler back]. I see alot of dual stacks in my area, but no singles. Any opinions?

I think duals out the back (under truck) would look good.

Black hood stack would look sweet too...........just sayin

I like my 7" miter around town, but if you are gonna be on the Interstate much I wouldn't have a stack! It's too loud IMO! duals under bed would look good with a couple 6" tips!

I'm not doing this right away. I'm a planner, just thinking ahead. I'll be doing the exhaust this summer. Duals are nice, but after seeing the MBRP kit on my brothers truck & the problems he had, no way!!!

When I put stacks on my truck there were only a few people that had them around my area. Unfortunately they are becoming more and more popular, and now it seems like everyone has them up here. I love the sound of my stacks, but am considering changing to an under the bed setup just for the fact that they are way too popular up here. If you don't care that they are popular, I say do it, but I find it to be irritating when all you see is diesel trucks with stacks. $.02

Could be a real dick and point them straight back on both sides on the hitch. That would look cool and have a purpose.

i say 7 inch black mitre, just put it on my truck monday, and i love it

Same here, there are gassers that run around here where their stacks are worth more than there truck.:bang:bang:bang

i agree. If your on the interstate-dont go with stacks.
My single 6" was too much on the interstate. Even when i was going 60mph. The radio only goes so high. Mine is now 5" all the way out.

However, on a second note, just add a second turbo if you want a stack. Its the most expensive muffler you'll ever buy.

Twins with stacks are pretty quiet. A single stack with no muffler makes way to much cab noise. A buddy of mine had a12 valve in a one ton chevy with a single stack. Steel cab with no liner you had a swollen head in a hour.

I was driving my truck 70 miles a day on the highway and I thought a stack was the stupidest idea ever when I would end up at work everyday with a headache till I did twins and man is it quiet now if your gonna use a muffler with a single I say go for it otherwise go out the back

I just remembered. I think I have a 4" tailpipe from my brothers 02 Chevy. I'm gonna see if its still out back. It was only on his truck for 3 weeks before he put stacks on it. He sold the truck & has no use for it. I think I'll just keep it running out the back. I don't see many stacks out my way, except at the sled pulls or dyno events ofcourse....not many singles.

This is a easy question to answer for you....

To stack or not to stack you ask.....

Answer...

How much do you like the thoughts of the soot spraying all over your nice new paint from a stack?.

The under body exhaust while It may seem a bit normal sure is alot easier to clean up one area of soot rather than a entire truck after a long drive or rain.A owner can drill all the weep holes in his lower pipes he wants but one rain storm and you'll wish you never did stacks.Yes,you could use a set of stack covers but when your at a show or parked at your motel, how long do you think they will remain on your ride?.

I have contemplated this for years as I wanted to go to a single stack but show cleanup and soot everywhere was my reason to just go larger underneath...........Andy

Andy is right, the clean up is a pain especially if you dont wash the truck at least once a week. but also who do you plan on hooking with? some organizations require exhaust to go up so if you do the under bed exhaust make the tip removable so you can clamp on an extension with a elbow turning up when needed.

Good point!!! My brother had the turnout stacks & never had any soot, but now that I think about it....he never had it in the rain either. If they cover my truck in soot, then forget that idea. I'll stick with my rear exit. Now, I need to figure out if I wanna straight pipe or leave the muffler.LOL

I don't get into those kinds of pulls, mostly brush pulls or Fairs. I never had them hook to my exhaust. I shot the stack idea down, black soot on orange definately won't look good. Thanks TJ.

stacks are fun for about 45min... then they're fun for about the first 5-10 min of driving at the begining of the day.

Any other time, they suck! (blow?)

really sucks not being able to sit on the tailgate or even lean on the truck to hang out and bench race for fear of getting black spots all over your clothing.

sucks having a headache after 30min of driving

sucks having a hole in your bed

etc.
