external wastegate questions

ok before anyone says anything... yes i searched.. no i didnt find my answers thats why i posted

ok. my turbo blew up awhile back.. i was a non gated JR adkins little 55. well im on a budget and can afford to go out and spend $1000+ on a nice new charger. but i know a guy that has another hx55 that i can pick up for next to nothin.. so im gettin it to get the truck goin again. i want to put an external gate in to help stop any over speeding and to adjust the drive/boost ratio. how to i know what size gate to use? and how exactly should it be plumed up? sorry for the stupid question. im not hip on this external gate business. thanks in advance
 
ok thanks. can you or someone explain how to plumb them and adjust. sorry i know thats probably a long process. but im just wanting to make sure i dont screw anything up. also.. is an external gate the best way to go about what im wanting to do? where is the best place to get one?
 
thanks glen. i wish i had the cash to buy one of your gate setups. and carcrafter.. i must suck at the search thing. i searched for waste gates and didnt come up with that. i kept getting stuff for waste gates on twins..
 
ED, tial, JGSturbo, and synapse(sp) all have gate setups available.

i have ran this setup Dr. Performance Wastegate Combo Kit - Competition Diesel.Com - Bringing The BEST Together
still using the gate, did away with monster adapter. originally ran the monster adapter(only comes in t4) on my t3 single s300 setup, with the monster adapter i had to redrill adapter at machine shop, trim shock tower, and cut a section out of the intercooler elbow, the 4" downpipe worked w/o modification just had to push over a little. after the adapter was drilled for t3 there was not enough gasket surface to keep a good seal. did away with the adapter and bought ed adapter. currently running there adapter and the dr. p wategate in the link. i also had this large external gate and msd lazer gauge - Competition Diesel.Com - Bringing The BEST Together really heavy duty in comparison. if for some reason the current gate goes i will buy the ed gate, from what i understand it is not a typical off the shelf unit.
 
I may have one for sale, but I need to get some data logs on the new turbo to find out, gonna be a few months.
