With a four pin you can get by with a half shell from Ford. Its a little cheaper and there is no need to flash it. 7 pin usually means it's never been changed out.

PM me; I've got one I just took off my '04 6.0. Has under 200mi on it. It's just a rebuilt stock 48v. Nothing wrong with it, I just given a BPD test FICM to replace my new one.

Will a 03 work with a 04 I thought they were different but I could be wrong?

Any year 6.0 FICM will work on all 6.0s. I have both 7 and 4 pin units that I use for test purposes and never had an issue going either way.

If you want something good, call Swamps Diesel and get their 58V FICM with a Powerhungry fuel mileage flash.
