That sucks. I wonder if the head warped when it was hot and didn't have any block left to support it?

something went through that cylinder.. did we figure it out?

p.s. what were the studs torqued to? were they bottomed out?

Looks "somewhat" all too familiar....Kinda

That probably could have happened to me if I didn't catch this...

It was in the back of the block also

Maybe i wouldn't have lost the cylinder but the back of the block wouldnt have been so happy

Is that from running 14mm headstuds? I had herd that was a possible problem, but I could have been told wrong.

it's a problem if they weren't drilled out right. I've had 14mm for some time now and never torque them any tighter than 150lbs. I've not had any issues with them.

That Engine had ARP 625's, the proper torque per ARP is 150Ft lbs.
Whether or not the previous owner torqued (Or drilled out) correctly im not sure

hey impmouse eric told me about your rig when I bought some stuff from him I hope you get it back together soon

new block, new head ,lots of machine work on the head and block.. waiting on the rotating assy to come back from the machine shop... the only thing i'm reusing is crank and rods, every eles will be new.... this motor will be way over built... i'm have a problem on picking a cam ... pistons are being cut to lower compresion to 15:1 ... i'll get some new pics of the block and head soon

62/68/13ss with an s480 ,both with race covers.. hoping to see 700 hp,,, or i'm i asking to much

oh ok. it might need some tweaking to get ya there.. but what do i know.. im still new to the 12v stuff. i just got 2 pumps for free from school. one is a 11mm off a JD and the other is a 12mm. both have ag govs. not sure what the 12mm came off of. the 11mm im gonna build up to a 13mm with a quick rate and a few other things and the 12mm im just gonna go through and leave mostly stock.
