can some one tell why you would want to does it just keep the block strong? What bout overheating?and finally suggestions on how to do it?

thanks Adam

I'm not 100% sure but i think it helps for strength mostly. i don't know about the over heating issue. i am sure they are able to keep their temps in check

Block filling is done for strength. The main thing to think about is this: Once the block is filled, it can't be "un-filled". As far as where to get it, Moroso makes Hard Blok as well as a few other manufacturers.

I believe it has its pros and cons. Any chance you will ever have a rehook or pull more than once within a half hour. I wouldnt fill. I want to but will not I dont think. Need the money anyways. Im sure someone with some more experience will chime in.

So far I dont believe there has been a reason to fill a block on anything less than o Mod.The above statements are true when it comes to a rehook or pull off.As said above it is to strenghten the block, but I dont think very many IF any big single or small twin trucks ever see those kind of stresses.Remember at these small brush pulls you could lose because of a reset or pull-off.Personaly I would not do it in anything but a mod. truck.

On a full fill block does anyone know how thin you can go on the cylinder walls?

I have a damaged block that needs a large over bore to fix. I was thinking of filling it and just pumpiing water thru the heads.

I think your going to get alot of differant opinions on this. Some trucks run with a filled block and some dont for various reasons. You can run a partial fill in your block and have zero issues with cooling. It will help to stiffen up your cylinder walls. I really dont see a reason not to do it.

With a fully filled block you will run into issues with cool down time in between pulls. Another issue is with harmonics. With a fully filled block there is no water jacket to help buffer out damaging harmonics. But it will certainly help keep you cylinders straight and true.

yeah i never would have even thought of the harmonics... you people amaze me

how does a partial fill work... any one want to explain how to??

I have mine filled and alot of your brush pulle and even a NADM pull i went to are not very helpful with tow around vehicles. You cant idle or drive very long around the pits before it gets hot. Ive made plenty of back to back runs with no problem as long as the oil temp doesnt get to high

Filled Blocks

Bingo! Theres little problems other than Oil temp. Big oil cooler and you would be surprised how well it works. Jeff

Yea we are exploring different options for the oil temp/ cooler to get the temps down between runs other then that i like the filled block

Dang Jeremy... if you need a tow at any of the dragon events track me down. I'm sure I can pull your truck farther then I can pull the sled. :D

I filled my 3.0 motor, i dont know about you, but i am not going to dump a ton of money in machining just to have my block crack, im goin to try to prevent it. As far heat, run a electric water pump to the head and let it circulate for a while after you pull to cool it down, also put a fan or 2 under the hood when you get back to the trailer to help also, if it were my buck, i would fill it.
