My stock bumper had a nice dent in it, and it was heavy (75lbs), so I bought a bumper cover. This is how I mounted it. All materials are Aluminum. Some 1x.125 angle, 3/8 bar stock, 1/4 bar stock, and some 3x.187 angle.

I started out with the bare cover and bent up a length of 3/8 bar stock to generally follow the lines along the bottom of it.

I bolted a length of 1x.125 angle to the top of the cover, and made some struts to reach over to the edge. I then bent up some pieces of 3/8 bar stock to connect the top of to the bar along the bottom. I cut some 1x.125" flat bar tabs to attach the bar stock to the cover.

The yellow "rags" are fire blanket to keep from melting the cover while tacking things up.

After mocking things up, cutting out tacks, re-tacking, and re-mocking 1 million times, I started connecting everything together with 1/4" bar stock. Triangles baby, triangles!

Mounting brackets. I'll post some more pictures after I remove the framework from the cover for the finish welding process.

Sweet! Can you post up some pictures of how you did yours? What did you do for tow points?

I'm working on it. I think i hate every photo hosting app.
I used .100 aluminum plate mounted to the stock bumper bracket holes, and quik latch fasteners to mount it. It pops on and off in a few seconds.

I'm planning on using the stock sway bar holes to mount tow hooks that will double as tie downs.

Compd will host them for you.

I hadn't thought about the quick latch, good idea. It would be nice to be able to pull my after cooler without unbolting the bumper.

I weighed mine in its final form. 25 lbs.

I drilled and tapped some pieces of 3/8 bar stock for 1/4-20, pressed it into some 3/8 sch 80 pipe, and plug welded it in a couple places. These are struts that run from the body down to the frame I built, thinking that this will flex the assembly when the body moves rather than the fender coming down and crashing into a rigid, frame only mounted structure.

A close up of the mounting bracket. In the first pic you can see how I tied it into the top 1x.125 angle to support the top of the bumper, and where I tied the bracket itself into the front edge of the big opening in the middle of the bumper in the second picture.

will you get a few normal shots?

I find the pics above reminiscent of the old 'fat girl/odd angle' pictures of myspace

Hahaha! So true! unfortunately can't get any farther away from it until I put it back together enough to drive it out of the shop. I really need a bigger shop!

Better? That's as far away from it I can get.

I cut out some ABS to adapt the inner fender to the new bumper profile. Other than buying some nice button head stainless fasteners, I think its done!
