I've been debating for a long time now on a ATS aurora 5000 for both trucks in my sig but I've heard mixed opinions on going with a Sxxx charger which is supposed to be the same but its a performance line of borgwarner and the 5000 isn't a perfromance charger. What I need here is to know exactly what to do to get a Sxxx charger to match the same peformance as the bolt on 5000 kit I'd like to get. I want a .85 exhaust housing and a 38mm tial wastegate and a 71mm titanium comp wheel. Kinda would like to know opinions on this. Thanks in advance.

A lot better options out there. I'd talk to the above mentioned and Extreme Predudice Racing and Creatures of the night Performance to see what they can supply to meet your criteria.

have you ever monitored drive pressure without a wastegate, without a gate drive pressure goes way beyond 1:1 usually closer to 2:1 without.

A proper sized turbine wheel does wonders for spool and drive pressure.

The reason I want the smaller housing .85 is because I'll be able to spool quicker for DD/towing and maintain the boost pressure I want to see with the wastegate set at 55-56psi max. The other reason I would like to have it close to a 5000 is because I know its possible to make the goal I have set a mere 750hp and 1300ft lbs with engine/head work of course. I will be using a BOV/wastegate combo to reduce surge and increase life. What Im really looking to build is a truck built for sled pulling but can still be used as a truck not a trailer queen. I think my goals aren't to hard to reach and will have longevity. Just looking for help and opinions on what charger to go with in the future that is as close to the 5000 and is a stock appearing basic geometry turbo.

Have you talked to any turbo builders yet? DR or ED?

Dont really know who to talk to cause I dont really want to talk to someone who will try to sell me a charger right off the bat lol. My goals are real simple but I would want to make the right purchase the first time so I don't have to change it later down the road because I'm not satisfied with this or that you know. I want to make sure my investment was well made and in the right spot. I've done my research and yes I like the 5000 but I heard all kinds of different things positive and negative about them and that they are a K31 based charger which in talking to a borgwarner rep at this past 2011 gator diesel nationals is not a perfromance line charger and the Sxxx series is.

You'll like a S400 way better than a K31. The S400sx line is ok out of the box but a purpose built S400 will make a day and night difference in performance.

I do an either an s472 or an s478 LI looking at your sig. and i wouldn't mess with ATS for a turbo/kit. Over priced severely

either way, without bigger injectors and pump/s either of those suggesting and also the k31 will be leggy for towing. Flat land will be fine but when you get into the hills you're in trouble. Fuel mods will reduce the lag but increase the smoke.

For what you're looking for i think you should stay with a 66.

Redbowtie88 I've got a whole notebook complete with all the mods I want to do to my trucks and the engine's will be exactly the same with some major and minor exceptions. I'll be doing 60% overs on both trucks, adding a twin cp3 kit to the LB7 with LBZ pumps, LBZ has twins cp3s already, crower rods, socal pistons delipped cut & coated, socal stage 2 head work, LB7 will be swapped over to a LBZ block, you get the picture I had this notebook planned in 2007 and I've done the research on parts to build a 1100hp truck back then but it'll be over built to handle that and I'll dial it back to my goal of 750hp 1300ft lbs on fuel only thats all I want. The only thing I debate when I look through the notebook is which charger to go with and I'm not going the compound route for sure.

Call and talk to Jose ant forced and he can help you out.Or just start a thread in their vendor section.

My last post was wrong I apologize I'm going with 40% over inj and would like to stay with a 71mm charger when I figure out what I want. I'll talk to couple of builders and see what I can come with I know if I dont go with the 5000 the Sxxx charger will be a one off custom hybrid for sure. Since I'm asking for future reference here I had another quick question I thought about today. Who makes the best exhaust wraps or are they all about the same?

if its going on a built motor truck I would definitely go with an s478.

should spool fast enough to tow specially with injectors and twin pumps.

What size is the S478? I want to stay 71mm and be ranked as a 2.8 puller when I pull at local pulls.

I talked to Chris at ED today and he said for me to send him a email of the goals I have for the trucks so I did. The only question I have and I'll ask him to is ATS the only company with titianum comp wheels or are they also ava. for the Sxxx chargers?

I've made my mind up just need a little help and opinions. I plan on using a garrett GTX4202R with the 1.01 exh housing just need to know if the exh housing is to small for a 150 shot of nitrous? I plan on using the truck for everything so the charger has to be matched to my max goals of 750hp 1300ft lbs (fuel only) 900hp ????ft lbs on spray at the rear wheels nothing more nothing less just simple.
