Hi, I cannot believe that the Cummins in my 01 F350 is so noisy. I replaced the cowl boot seal, installed sound deadner on the trans hump. I had a chirp when I deacceled and tightened up my mtr mounts. The mounts are from Diesel specialists and the engine got louder after I tightened them down? I don't think the noise is being transmitted by something rubbing or touching my engine to cabin, however, it sounds like that? Any direction that someone else has discovered? Thanks Artie

So is the sound loud engine noise, or a noise like something's making contact?

normal engine noise for a CTD with the timing bumped pretty good. Looking at contact noise now....

Im planning on goin nuts with sound deadening. Might try boom mat or lizard skin and mat both

I put sound deadning on the bottom of my tunnel frame rail to frame rail back to the transfere case. I think the noise is coming from my firewall, which is still orig from the Powerstroker.... I don't think my noise is transmitted other than by air...

Mine is noisy as crap in my 01 F-350. My wife drives it 4-5 days a week im lucky if she lets me drive it on the weekends....but anyway the noise does not bother her but it drives me INSANE. Upon decceleration I can hear what sounds like the valves or tappets going up and down.

Sound deadener is your friend. Anyone that's been in mine has commented on how quiet it is inside.

Dynamite is good and there are tons of different brands and companies that sell stuff like it. I'm goin with mlv.and ccf from a company called soundproof America. Fair priced so I guess we'll see how she works

had a 92 f-250 rusted to pieces, nice quiet cab though. you need the older body style.

I have a few boxes of Dynamat in my 12 valve. under the hood, firewall on the engine side, under the cowl, on the inside of the roof, back wall under the rear window, inside the doors, and under the carpet. very happy with it

Yea, one use and its fixed permanently :hehe:

You could add the Excursion sound deadening panels that go under the dash on both sides too. They made a bit of difference in my swap, along with dynamat on the floor and rear wall of the cab. Is it a manual or auto truck?

kind of a derail but lets say you need to get dynamat off, what do you do? thermite?
