Hey guys,

Today I picked up a garrett ht3b from a buddy with some shaft play for a really good price, but I have some questions about it. I bought this for doing a set of twins with the stock hx35 on my truck. I thought it was a 23cm exhaust housing, but it has some misleading stamps on it that I need help figuring out. Here are some questions:

1) Based off of the ID tag, stamps on the outside of the housing and stamp on the inside of the housing can anyone confirm if this is either a 23cm or a 32cm exhaust housing?

2) If it is a 32cm housing can I put a 23cm housing on it, and if so where can i buy on these?

3) This turbo definitely needs new seals and bushings. Can I pull it apart, install a rebuild kit, and put it back together without having it rebalanced by a turbo shop?

4) And based on the answers to the previous questions, is this turbo worth rebuilding and using?

I hope you guys can help!

Definitely 32cm exhaust housing, great if you want to push it hard and try to make 650-700 HP, terrible if you want it to spool like a traditional 23-27cm sized version.

Your 0-20 psi boost range will be almost completely unaffected by the housing, but your mid-range 21-50 psi will be slower and hit softer than it would with a smaller housing on the HT3B.

That's what I thought, but was hoping I was wrong. Do you know where I can buy a 23cm housing for this turbo?

Does anyone know if you can just put a smaller exhaust housing on this turbo or do you need to change the turbine wheel/shaft as well??
