How much does a girdle do actually in a cummins 12v?
I have a marine girdle but i curious in woodruffs girdle who is 14mm thick and need Arp's extra long mainstuds to bolt it down togheter with maincaps.

I'm shooting around 900-1000hp more or less, will it be more than enough with the marine type that i got or will i need more strength in the bottom?
Please come with advices

The need for girdles is typically driven by the engine's target RPM. How high do you want to spin?

Im interested in this too,,, in my application just over 4000 RPM

My engine will se at least 5000rpm maybe more if all turn out to work as it should but in beginning 5000.

i have one in mine. i built the engine to turn 5k plus. i got it from haisleys, and also used the 14mm A-1 main studs

I would suggest getting a girdle that will tie in the mains. Some guys are running 5k without one, but IMO it is a good idea to do.

I would think your power level ties into that too. 1200hp on a CR will want the mains to walk at 4000 too.

I know a place that makes 3/4" steel and 1" thick aluminum girldes for the B series.

Keating.

I have a 1/4" thick Cummins stiffener plate, but if I can get my hands on some .375" or .5" plate I might build my own to tie into the mains.

Yea that's the girdle i have been wondering about to buy when i already got the engine apart? But i don't know if i gonna buy or not?

I gotta tell you guys ! It is doable but, it's a ****in big piece of work !!!!

There is mine, 4340 steel, 9/16 '' thick

And that is the template I had made for it

I have more then 20 hours in mine !!! Believe me guys, if I have to make an other one like that, I would buy MAXTORQ girdle !

Blacksmoke, that looks great! From the pictures it looks like you cut it out from plate with a torch and then had both sides machined flat? If you don't mind me asking what did you do to take up the gap from the main caps to the girdle?

That II price is pretty dang good considering it comes with the studs!

here is the one i bought from haisley for my 12v

i think it was 5/16 or so thick, i cant remember
