Girdle in cummins?

there is no wat to get a girdle or block stiffener in without pulling the engine right?

Engine has to be out for a girdle. Block stiffener I'm not 100% sure on, but it would definitely be a pain to do with the block in the truck though.

Regardless, I don't see how you could get around not machining the spacers that would go between the girdle and the main caps. There would be some tolerance between each block and probably each main that would have to be accounted for.

Ditto. There is a decent-sized gap to be taken into account.

haisley makes one any thoughts on theres?

How thick is it? Last I saw on their site, they only had the block stiffener.

so it was only a block stiffener ... well since I don't know Im gonna ask, what is the difference in a girdle and a block stiffener?

The Haisley one is a Cummins stiffener modified to tie into the main caps, so it then becomes a girdle.

Girdle = ties into the mains
Stiffener = just bolts to the bottom of the block from one side to another.

My builder installed a 5/8" girdle from DPW (Thanks Doug)

Machined the main caps to get a good flush seat

Dont have a pic but the front corssmember had to be modified. So far so good. Got a VERY slight oil leak but will get that fixed when I get home.

^^^^ comes with spacers and studs but not longer oil pan bolts :(

how beneficial is the stiffener since it's only torqued to 18 ft. lbs. ???
could you take it up to 25-30 ft. lbs??

Might be able to but even at that point, I still don't really see a comparison with a "real" girdle.

I think it will only really help give some rigidity to the lowest part of the block. Which in consequince may help the rings seal/main stay more stable but obviously not anything like a real girdle.

Question for you guys running the thick girdles, what is used to seal it to the block to keep from leaking oil? Another oil pan gasket or just silicone?

even the cummins manual calls for silicone between the stiffener and block.

Get the preload? Kipo I got 2 oil pan gaskets when I bought my Cummins stiffener plate, am I thought it went oil pan- OP gasket- stiffener- OP gasket- block?

^^^^^^so did i but 18 lbs. didn't feel very good so i took it to 20 lbs wich cracked the gasket so i just ultra black'd it.

The gasket is compressible. Hard to get preload and maintain it.
