Before I buy a subscription to witech and tech authority does anyone know of a good economical OBD2 device that will do function tests like injector cutout, 68 quick learn and read cvi values on rams including the stupid 18’s? Thx

I hear a lot of talk about auto enginuity, but I have access to a solus elite, so never dig into it.

I can't 100% verify the 18's but we have a Mac Mentor Touch Scout that does a phenomenal job for the cost. They are around $2k which comes with code assist. You can also upgrade to HD. Updates are only once a year. You can cut injectors, do relearns, cylinder contribution, etc

Hey. Thx. I’ll look into that Mac mentor. I’ve looked at the snap on stuff but the after buy support kinda sucks. Thanks a lot guys.

AlphaOBD and a mxplus device. $50 for app and $90 for good obd adapter. If you own a 2006+ Cummins or any can based Chrysler Fiat ram dodge vehicle it's money well spent. Have only had it a week and am blown away what it can do. I'll leave my auto enginuity in the drawer. Liked it so much I bought the PC version as well. He offers a discount to buy one if you bought the other. It will do cvi, trans learn and kill on my 13. Along with tons, fogs with high, change drl, enable feature, change vehicle config, enable anything on nearly every on board module, change to led bulbs, active commands on most any module including abs. Working on and tuning these trucks for the last 10 years I can't believe I haven't got it sooner. Links below. Also link to free demo so you can download free, play around with it and see what it has to offer. Must have Android or windows. Attached some random screenshots. HINT Once you select all your vehicle and control module. Click on the little car button at bottom. That will tell you what you can do within the module selected.

Thx CRP. I’ll try it out. It’s so cheap it’s hard to believe it’s so useful. Honestly though if I can read cvi’s and quick learn that’s worth it.

Wow, this sounds awesome! Thanks for sharing. I'm going to get it downloading right away.

What are the advantages of the Windows version over the phone? I have a laptop I haven't started in a couple years, but I've been meaning to reformat and turn it into a shop computer.

Really nothing. I just wanted both for an additional $25 it was worth it. I have a PC at my desk in the shop and prefer to sit at my desk in the chair and mess around with things than use my phone. Phone app seems a little easier to navigate but I have only spent about 10 minutes on the PC version and about an HR on the app. Would definitely purchase app first. It's much more mobile than a computer. Lots of YouTube videos and crap on ramforum about it.

I downloaded it, and forgot I lent my ELM27 BT adapter to a friend... Looks like I'll have to wait til this weekend to play with it. Initially going through the app, it is a little rough in terms of GUI, but it looks like it has a TON of functionality.

Anyone have luck connecting to the transmission control module to read values? I was able to perform relearning, but I can't see the values or connect directly to the transmission. Everything I've done is through the ECM.

I have not used it as a scan tool yet. I have just used it as a tool to change parameters and do test on.
