Grid Heater Light Stays On

On my '06 5.9 the grid heater light stays on, and chimes 4 times at startup. I briefly got the code P1142 when I cycled the key on/off 3 times. From what I have read elsewhere, it can mean 2 things: the ECM needs to be reflashed, or there are bad injectors. Any ideas on how to narrow it down to the actual problem that is causing the light to stay on?

Is your power reduced while the grid light stays on? My truck had this and it was injectors causing it. Never had them tested but I suspect high return rates. Installed new Exergy injectors and problem was resolved

It doesn't seem like its low on power, it still accelerates pretty quickly with 4.10's/35's.

Mine had a definite loss of power. Mine also didn't throw any trouble codes but could use the smarty to clear dtc's(that didn't exist) and full power would return until the next time the grid light would start chiming while driving.

Well, while driving it today, its got a definite "hiccup" at idle.

90% of the time it's high returns on the injectors

So if I replace the injectors, will the light go off on its own?

You can clear the code and it will go out. Replaced the injectors on mine and it never happened again
