Well, the optimum bracket truck would be a 4x4 2500 auto short on power. I went bracket racing at Scheids with my back up truck. A 93 2x4 ext cab long bed NV4500 dually with no tach. Can you get a harder truck to bracket race??? I was launching off of the sound of the engine and shifting off of feel. You cant run consistant like that, but I did my best.

6.....191...2.64...11.3809@62.06 dial 11.56 *3 lost
*1-the other guy backed out of the lights and I was looking at him when the tree started down so I had a bad rt
*2-The other driver was having big problems, and guessed a dial and they ran way fast and I was trying to catch them, and didnt come close as they borke out by alot.
*3-The other guy's truck was loud enough that I couldnt hear my truck and launched too late and too high of rpms. I tried to catch him, but broke out. In hindsite I should have changed my dial in based off of run 5.
I was in the last 6 trucks and the last stick shift in it. And the only guy w/o a gauge to use to lauch off of. I think I'm gonna park the 96 and put a tach in the 93 and run it for now on. The 96 has some bearing problems in the transfer case right now.
