Harbour City Diesel runs 150 MPH

Whether the Ultimate will buy you a few tenths or not is the subject of another discussion (I believe it will).

Drag racing is frequently a war of attrition and it is here that you'll find the Ultimate's significant advantage.
Finishing!

You have enough Hp to go low 10's (perhaps more).....4X4 chasis setup is still a black art....Good luck with that! :hehe:

Yeah front clutch was welded up solid. Can't wait till we get the ultimate in there and then we should really be rocking. Next season will be a good one for sure

Man Im jealous of all you light weight guys. My truck is well over the 7000# mark with me in it. Going to try and lose about 4- 500 this winter. But it is going to be difficult

Kevin

Wow Kevin you'll be one skinny dude lol..... I am impressed with all these heavy 4x4 running the times they do......freakin amazing.

4-500 pounds is roughly the same as adding 60-80Hp.
Depending on what your "diet" costs you might be better off adding a progressive nitrous system or more fuel.

What tires/wheel combo are you running?

My problem is that I am too light on the rear of the truck. I was thinking about adding a few pounds. Maybe I will move the motor back in the chassis for next year.

I agree the weight bias on these 2wd cummins powered chevys is not the best. I too am going to add some weight right on the rear, dual adj. shocks are also the ticket to keep it from hopping.......

Im not too worried about more HP, I have plenty of that. It would be nice to actually lose a little hp and some weight and stay the same speed, reliablity is an issue

I run 305 50 20 falken stz04 tires, and they hook up not too bad actually

Falken rights! :hehe:

10% less weight = 10% less driveline wear and tear.

here are some pics from event with Malcoms run. if you want to see them all goto nhrda website.

Wadin' the ol slicks up pretty good, glad you got em screwed, after spining mine in the rim one night and scaring me half to death, i screwed them the next morning. I did 8 per side as it looks like you did or 16 per wheel, what size are those Good years? Mine are 33/16/15, and they dont work for crap unless there under 7 psi, there better even at 5.5 but it will hop, that helped me break a ring and pinion last week. What do you normally 60', great pass by the way, nice truck.

These Goodyears are 33x17x15 and they are at 9 psi. 7 psi wow that is low. Don't know if I would like to try them at that low of a psi.

My best 60 is around 1.56 but only if I launch the truck really hard I usually 60 foot 1.68 or so.

Thanks for the compliment.

What diff do you run and what gear/gear ratio?

Malcolm

Ya, might not be a good idea at 150mph, i stay on the 1/8th mile tracks around here bracket racing mostly, i only run a 3 spd. tranny and gearing for the short track so i 60' a little better, its been some 1.47 1.48's but usually low 1.5x's with a 3.70 gear in the ol 9" ford i cut down myself to 40". With the 3.70 i broke last week the truck was gearbound at 118mph im going back with a 3.50 to try to load the turbo a little better and this will also raise the mph to nearly 130 if the need arises. I made 1 attempt going through the 1/4 a few weeks ago, i lifted at the 660' to cool off a bit and scrub some speed off so i could hit it again and try to run through the traps under steam, it still nosed over way early and ran a 10.67 at 118mph. I do not plan to change the truck up to run the 1/4, all the tracks around me are 1/8th anyway, and as hot as the damn thing is, i think it will live a much longer life if i keep it to the 660'. On paper anyway IF it had a 3.00 gear in it at 4600 that would be 151mph, but it would not leave like it does now thats for sure, even the ol cummins has it limits.....:bang
Ryan

EDIT: Went and looked at the slip that was a 10.87 at 118mph. Sorry.

I run a 14bolt that i cut down also and shoved moser axles in it. My gear is a 3.21 thinking of raising it to a 3.55 I don't need to go that fast....just quicker. I top out at 4230 or so on the cr motor.

Cool, well i see youve got a over drive tranny anyway due to 4200 r's with your 3.21 gear and 33" tire is 128mph. Sounds like you may be geared pretty good, your really using that OD a lot to gain another 22 mph with it. I can tell you it will leave a lot harder with the 3.55 and you would love it IF you dont go gearbound before the traps. The 14 bolt is a tough unit for sure, i was just trying to cut weight everywhere i could, i do have 35 spline mosers and Strange nodular center section along with a good strange pinion support and spool, but im running the 28 spline pinions rather than the much better or stronger 35 spline Pro Gear stuff. Congrats. again on getting in the 9's with a 4k+ truck, thats flying and for hitting the majic mph for needing to put some laundry hanging on the back bumper! Way to go Malcolm

That would be too cool, you will be yarding the tires. lol Guess that will take your mind off of going to fast.
