Hey guys, I'm going to use a stock 05 HE351 as a secondary of a twin setup and have it apart and was wondering how far you can actually port the wastegate out. I've heard about up to 1 1/16"? It looks like you can just run a regular drill bit through it. I was going to set it up on the milling machine or drill press and run a big drill bit down it.

Also, what do I do with the hole in the compressor cover for the solenoid? Is it just a regular thread so that I can stuff a bolt in there? Or can I just use the solenoid and turn the wastegate on with my Smarty?

Thanks in advance :Cheer:

You can turn the wastegate off with your smarty but it will still throw an over boost code.

I am building a 351 over a s475 myself. I ran a 1" varibit down the wastegate hole to open it up. ATS sells a plug for the solenoid i believe.

what do you have planned for a wastegate. I want to clock my housing but it will mess up the mount for the wastegate. I want to run a drivepressure wastegate but i haven't found one for a 351 yet

I'm not really sure how I plan on running the gate, I'll figure something up for the clocking. Thanks for the input. I totally forgot about changing the clocking.

I made a simple bracket like this:

I have an extra plug too.
You can also use a 1/8 bit to remove the pin punch crimp in the WG rod and make it adjustable.$.02

That looks pretty easy Carl. I'll rig up something like that. Did you port the gate in that one?

You can port the HE351cw to 27mm or 1-1/16". The puck is about 31.25mm across and it takes about 2mm of overlap on each side for a good seal.

Went to the hardware store and just got one there. I have put an inner spring in the one I have now so the spring doesn't have to compress as far. Works great, it's been on the truck about a year now with no problems.

Pictures are almost impossible for me. Heck I do good to find my way around on a computer. Someone might be able to transfer a picture Steve put on CF
