whats the advantage to swaping the 24v head onto a 12v. and whats involved with doing this? is it worth it?

For starters, you have to change the pistons. No, not worth it.

Personally I think it would be pretty sweet to swap a Common Rail head on with Common Rail pistons, get some type of custom injectors made and you could have a lot of fun wit that IMO. But other than that it isn't worth it, you can open up the ports a lot on a 12v with a die grinder from hell...

I just bought a 97 with a 24 valve head and common rail pistons and lifters, twins also.. If I was going to build one it would still be a 12 valve head truck!!
