i always just put the cam in the freezer for a couple hours and when i am ready just put the gear right on it it still requires the press but it goes on real easy
Just did one this week, it's diff. when you dont remove the cam from the engine though...you risk chance of pushing the rear plug out. I drilled and tapped the cam in it like i did my own and after heating in an oven at 250* for 30 min. I used the bolt to pull the gear on with no troubles at all. The gear was removed to replace the back cover from a VE style to the P-pump style. Ryan
