1996 Regular cab long bed 4x4 automatic......I have been tossing these ideas around in my head, i really dont want to build a sled puller anymore, its just too much hassle to "keep up with the jones's"

lifted show truck, 10 inches of custom long-arm lift built by a friend with a 3 inch body lift, axles geared low, 40 inches or so of tire on a nice set of aluminum wheels, custom paint done by a good friend.....

still driveable but not very practical, like most trucks in central florida, still cheaper than a pulling truck and can drive more places......

hardcore offroad truck, 8-10 inches of custom long-arm lift built by a friend with coilovers, cut as much of the fenders as possible, dovetail the bed sides, dovetail the nose, 12 inch wide steel beadlock wheels with some MT Claws turned backwards for rock crawling, possibly a rear 4 link with coilovers or soft leaf springs.....

still driveable but not very practical, like most trucks in central florida, still cheaper than a pulling truck and can drive more places......

monster truck, 4 link, 14 inch lift coil springs, 4.5 inch Tuff Country spring spacers, 3 inch body lift, SCS drop box or 2.5 ton case, 30.5x32 tires, hood stack, a few engine tweaks, 5 ton or planetary axles......

i can actually build this truck cheaper than i can a pulling truck plus i will take the front axle i just rebuilt and put it under my 93 Dually and make it 4x4.....so i see that as a big plus too.....

lowered 4wd drag truck.....

a drag strip 15 minutes from the house plus another diesel drag racer lives 3 minutes from my house.....and still cheaper than a pulling truck.....

tow truck, still convert it to the 37 spline Dana 80 F-Superduty 10x7.25 lug disk brake rear and the 60 front to the same lug pattern and put my western hauler bed from my 1st gen on it, some nice alcoa's and build it into a trailer puller with twins, Kelderman air suspension front and rear, and a few other cool things......

more useful and most likely more fun than a sled puller and if i chose too, i can still pull it in the Super Street/3.0 classes......and still probably cheaper than a sled puller....

See logan these guys would no doubt say drag...not in the florida state of mind...I say put it at stock height, get some slicks so you have a drag truck...some cut tires fo sand drags and general mud rippin

Have you thought about building it as a work stock puller? Or do they have a work stock class down there?

Im pretty sure with a 3rd gen charger, a good Dana 80 in the rear, and some fuel and timing you could have a truck that you can drive every day, pull a trailer with, or go to the dragstrip and run 12's with since its a regular cab and would only take around 450-475hp to be high 12's.

Thats kind of the goal with my truck. Shouldnt be a lot of breakage at that power level either as long as its fairly strong to start with. There is no way i can afford to run with the big dogs in the 2.6 class, so if i can be semi competitive in work stock and still drive it every day and pull a trailer with it and run low 13's/high 12's then that will be good enough for me.

But, if you have sworn off pulling all together, then i say build a drag truck.

we have stock turbo....then the "everything else" class......and by stock turbo they mean stock for that make, model and year (if i put a stock HX35 on my 90 2wd i had to run the big class).......well, it appears as though i am now building a drag truck.......is there any classes out there with actual engine rules?? or is it kind of a free for all on the engine setup (excluding the drugs not allowed in some classes) and tires and they let the chassis rules run the show.....and i do like the sand drag idea Phil, they run them alot over at Bithlo and Samsula.....that way i could hit 2 or 3 races in a week if i wanted too, Lakeland drag on Thursday, Bithlo sand on saturday night then Sunday at Orlando Speedworld next door to Bithlo......just swap the tires and run.....

I actually feel priviledged that he started a thread about me, makes me feel important, though I dont know what I did to tick him off, dosent matter though, still makes me feel important.....:hehe:

Yea, that's what I was thinking....basically what Kurt does with his truck, but I'd get lower it a little more than stock and run aggressive 33's for the sand drags....wonder what would be a good tire....I'm sure they won't let you run paddles...that would be tits.

I would definately do the sand drag/drag truck idea. You could put a 66mm on it big injectors and little spray if you wanted. Be able to drive it everyday and still have alot of fun with it, just change out the tires and go. :rockwoot:

thats a fun dilemma if there is such a thing.DRAG TRUCK for sure.and if it is not as fast as you want it just call it your d.d.lol

I would do a street/strip truck that can still tow. Oh wait thats my truck.

Taks the truck and take out the 4-3/4" block and do a 2" block with one coil cut off the front.

It will rip at the track and still tow.
