Ok i have been talking on CF and i thought id start a thread over here on CompD and get some opinons going. I wanna run a 66/68/14 turbo with some 240hp sticks. I have been told to go to ED for the turbo and smokem for the injectors. I would think this set up would spool quite well what do you guys think? This truck is my daily driver and i sled pull on the weekends just for the hell of it but would like to be competitive still. Also would this be a 2.6 turbo i assume or?? Please let me know what you guys think

6x.016 injectors, and a ED S465 as long as you don't tow alot with it. I would even go with a RedLine or just p-pump it. I've seen similar setups do pretty good around here.

If i was getting a 66, it would have the 71mm turbine wheel. That is just me though. I would probably rather have a 64/71/14 over a 66/68/14.

Well keep in mind that its my daily driver and i drive it everyday so i was thinking the 68 wheel would help spool up and be more street friendly. Also it will be gated to around 45psi so i dont think i should have to worry about drive pressures.

Im not 100% sure how these turbo's will relate to each other in spool up and performance, but I still think I would go with a 64/71 over the 66/68. I think spoolup would be about the same between the two if i had to guess. Maybe someone who has tried both will give some info on the differences.

Just curious as to why you would go with a 64/71 over a 66/68 if spool up would be the same? Only thing i would be worried about is Drive pressure but if its gated i dont think it should be a problem

The 64/71 will probably flow more air than the 66/68 with just as easy of a spool up. I run a 62/74/14 Silver Series from Industrial Injection, and it spools great. Its a little laggy than a stocker, but not too bad. I've seen as much as 60lbs of boost too. Turbo is forsale if anyone is interested.

a 66/71 is too laggy to have fun driving out on the street on a vp truck anyways, especially if you are going to run sticks that big even with electronics off you would never be able to control the smoke very well. dont get me wrong this is a great power setup I just wouldnt want to drive it around on the street everyday.

Well does anyone think that a 64/71/14 or 13ss would be able to handle a set of mach 7's or equivalent? Could i port the exhaust housing to make it flow better and for better spool up? Keep in mind i have a stick so that would help with temps and water injection. I just want to have a relatively street friendly set up that can be competitive pulling the sled

my truck seems to run pretty cool as is now...Going down the track on the two pulls i did this past weekend egts were around 1250. Pulled in 4th 4low and went down the track at about 27-2800 rpms and i just want more power but still be streetable. I still think a 66/68/14 turbo would be a pretty sweet turbo for on the street and sled pulling

I dont think that you should have any problem with lag, with your truck being a stick. are you going to have ED rebuild your charger or are you going to buy a new one?

Im not sure what would be the better choice? What does everyone think about this?

Does ED make full custom turbos or do i have buy one then send it to them?

I'm told the 68 wheel will actually flow more than the 71 and spool close to a 65 but I dunno. I know smokem really pushes that 68 wheel.

Well if thats the case that would be great but i dont see how it could possibly flow more than a 71? How would a 66/68/14 spool with some 220s or 240s? Its my DD and has to be somewhat streetable..Also what injectors does everyone recommend

I dunno how but it's something with the design of the wheel. ED should be able to tell you more. I'm bout to swap a 66 wheel on to my turbo and I've got a bigstick cam so I'm curious to see how it spools. Probably gonna have ED check my wastegate while it's there and see if it's still closing properly.
