I too felt like the hot unlock upgrade was a waste of money. If anything, it had a touch more midrange hit and pulled past 2700 rpm up to 31-3200 rpm whereas the standard edge juice or comp tuning defuels at 2700-2800 rpm.
If you have an auto, the edge defueling only affects you above 100 mph. If you have a 5 speed, the defueling will hurt your 1/4 mile times and in my case, seemed to cause me to bark my turbo all the time.
