I have a 160pump with 024 delivery valves, 4gsk springs, no plate, 2096 plug and the afc will be reworked to get full travel. How much hp can it support with these mods and was else can i do to get more out of it besides bigger del valves?
I looking for 550 rwhp before i will be satisfied.

Look at some bench work such as turning the barrels and having them flow matched on the bench.

Ok thanks for all the replies so far.
What kind of mods did jeff do on his? Is there anymore i can do before put it on a bench and get it tuned?

Bigger Injectors. Alot of people do delivery valves because it gives you "more fuel" but injectors give you fuel that can make power without all the heat.

Nearly if not everyone of these high hp 160 pump examples has had the barrels turned some on the truck with no bench to balance slow others on the bench. I would think you can obtaine 550 without barrel work but not for certain. Good luck:)

Made 634 with a single 64mm charger and ran 11.52. Went to twins with same pump and pulled 10.76@126mph. I think thats around 780 to 800+ depending if you go off of mph or et weighing 6000lbs.

too late for edit: "......balance slow others......." should have been "....balance some others......." :bang

If you don't mind me asking, what size twins are you running?

ive been over this alot since i have a 160 pump.

as for power.... anything can be done, the only limiting factor is your wallet!

I read a long time ago that the stoopid pumps are sourced from a 160 because they are cheaper and its not worth tearings down a good 215 or 180, because all that is used is the core. everything else is replaced.

Ok i have now located a shop that can tune my 160 pump and calibrate it for me.
What is there to be done to it without change barrels/plungers? The things i know now is turn the barrels and put it on a bench. Is there more that can be done to it while i have it in the shop?
