Just wondering where the Dana 70 starts to fall apart. I'm curious just because I know this will never be a issue for me.

I doubt I'd ever be able to blow up a Dana 60 rear either, unless.... :nos:

Just curious about opinions, thoughts...

Depends on how its abused. Sled pulling seems to be the hardest on them.

we pulled are for 3 years with the dana 70 how ever we did break u joints and one axle with 600 hp 1000 ft/lb

If you are dragracing, dont worry about breaking it...

But if you are sled pulling, the axle shafts will start breaking at about 550hp or a little less.

I have pulled on my 70 for 2 years at right around 550 hp and have only tore out spider gears. I am looking for a Dana 80 though.

Good data here. I wonder how much power a Dana 60 rear would hold up? If I hang on to this truck I'm pondering swapping my 80 out for a 60 just because I don't make power and want cable lockers.

i just twisted my pinion off last weekend on my 70 sled pulling

D60 rears have 1.310 x 30 or 16 spline axles. Probly hold up if ya just drive it like a car....But if ya put any TQ to it you'll break it!

it depends what youre doing, how long itll last, but the dodge 70's arent much bigger than a 60. but i still want a 9"
