I just installed a used HTT 'Killer B2' 64/65/14. With jammer 4's and ADR I can only make 41-42 psi boost. And with the comp tune on the ADR, I can still peg the 1600 deg pyro by about 60mph. Are the jammers to blame for the high egts? Anybody make more boost with this turbo? I just cant believe its still so hot!

Thanks!

thats what the wastegate is set at. you should have gotten the 64/71/14, that 65mm wheel is pretty much useless on anything bigger than 62.... if even that.

tighten the set screw on the boost elbow, id screw it in all the way (count the turns it takes to go in) pull it all the way out, lock tite it, then send it back in.

you should be able to get 60+psi out of it, but, drivepressures are going to be high w/ that small wheel

It didn't come with an adjustable elbow, only made 30psi. I added an elbow and its turned all the way in, now 42psi max.

I got the HT 64/71/14 but about 35psi is all mine will do, i didn't notice a set screw on the elbow, is there any other ways they made it to turn it up?

yes the jammers are a big part of your high egts. i havent mess with adr. are you sure that it is 64/65/14. all most all of htt are set at around 44psi from the factory. my dad has 57/65/14 i believe it will only make 34 or 35. he has ddp 110 hp injectors, and a juice and he has to run the sh*t out of it to get to hit 1500 and i think the max he has hit 1560

i had 150 jammers and drag comp with a 66/65/14 and it was hot and i could make and i could make around 45psi. when i had my head done i switch to ddp stage 5 and 64/71/14. night and day difference in injectors. better mileage, could clear it up to a light haze, i wouldnt hit 1500 until around 70 or 75 and with the boost elbow could see around 55psi.

well i got a 66/71/14 and i can only get 42 psi max now my nut on the bottom do i go in or out to make more boost

I think you need some better injectors, Jammer 4's are only 100hp right?
I can hit about 42psi with 110hp ddp's and an aroura 3000...

srt how does it spool up? Our board moderator (NW Bombers) put a II 62/14 on his truck and it was a dud, it didn't spool that great and boost didn't go that high and had high EGT. They checked & double checked the wastegate, checked for leaks, etc. but then swapping out the turbo made a night & day difference. Once in a while a turbo may just be "bad out of the box" but of course it makes sense to try & rule everything else out first. I assume you have a good clean air filter and no exhaust restrictions like an exhaust brake hanging up or something. . .

You need to shorten the wastegate rod 3 to 4 turns. Sounds like the gate is blowing open from drive pressure and not letting the turbo make maximum airflow up around 50 psi or a little more.

or the wastegate is hung open....

what method did you use to check for leaks??

^x2 I had to tweak on my HTT a little to get it where I wanted it. Lesson learned: test and adjust with regulator and shop air BEFORE you put it on. Hiring the midget to come over and wedge his pygmy hand up in there and turn that rod on a 3rd gen was expensive... and I gotta bring him back.

If its not incredibly laggy, I doubt the gate is hanging open.

One other simple check, remove the wastegate inspection cover and look at the wastegate flapper valve... Some of their older ones were prone to bending and not letting the wastegate completely seal, causing the turbos to not spool or hold pressure properly..!

vmackenzie it spools real good top end power is great with the 6 speed it not to bad i have 5 inch exhaust and air dog 150 gph and edge with atitude and smarty u think if i get bigger injectors it will see more boost?

Wastegate is not open, I tested with shop air. I used the 'torque it up while I watch and listen' method of checking for leaks, plus visual inspection. This was with an open downpipe(no exhaust brake, and open turbo(no filter) I believe the actuator spring is worn, so i think I will tighten up the rod a bit. Thanks Big Blue24, and everyone.
