I am thinking about just taking the wastegate actuator and rod off the turbo, and wiring the wastegate closed. The only reason is to save space/make bolting it back on easier. Is there any reason not to do this? Obviously I can't limit boost with the gate anymore, but excessive drive pressure can no longer force it open either. So am I increasing the risk of blowin the head gasket?
 
Probably not the best idea unless you take it off and install an external gate.

Well I've been running it for a few days now wired shut. Still only makes 42psi, no blown headgasket yet!

If all your making is 42, the wastegate is probably still creeping open a little. You need a turnbuckle or a tack weld if you really want to hold the gate closed tight.
 
Or maybe I don't have enough fuel for more than that? Seems unlikely to me.
 
How is the one Chris posted boost actuated? Looks like a rod, and spring?

Oh well yeah that one is drive pressure actuated. But the original actuator on the charger runs off boost (and drive pressure I suppose) just like a HX35.
 
im really thinking that you have a leak some where.. htt's turbos are normally set at around 40 psi (mine was at 38) with a little turn of the wastegate you should easily be above that.

Wastegate is wired shut...

Also I checked all boots again, no leaks anywhere.
 
Sorry didnt see the questions about it. Its not a Bullseye piece. We build them ourselves. Its purely mechanical and adjustable from the mid 20's to locked shut. Its also less than $100.
