Hx35/40

Will the hx40 compressor housing work on the earlier 24v exaust housings?

No, a HX40 will not turn your stock truck into a bad ass ram. :hehe:

And no a compressor housing will not work on an exhaust housing, however, the HX40 compressor housing will work on the earlier 24v center section with the earlier HX35 turbine wheel and exhaust housing.

when i built my 35/40 i had to use the 40 center/bearing section so the compressor wheel would fit into the recess. take a 40,put 35 shaft and exh housing on it.

Or get the HX35 center section machined a little larger to accept the large HX40 wheel.

Is it really worth spending a few hundred to build a slightly better than stock hybrid turbo? I wouldn't do it unless it could be done for $200 or less.

i'm not wondering for my benifit, i have a s366 on the way right now, a friend of mine has an '01 and was wondering if he could use my hx40 wheel and housing on his existing turbo

On an 01' HX35, it's even more expensive because the wastegate actuator is mounted to the compressor housing so you'd have to rig up a new wastegate actuator bracket.

Plus the post 98.5' HX35's have a smaller machined backing plate for the compressor wheel so you'd have to get the compressor backing plate from the HX35 machined from 78mm to 85mm.

In short, he'd be better off running your old HX40 as a complete turbo and buying a new HX-40 style downpipe.

Even shorter, he'd be better off with a different turbo.

x2! unless you have the skills/tools to do the hybrid for free
