I have had it with Death Wobble

New( junk )Rancho that was on the truck when I bought it.D rated 285 Pirelli tires are on it now, going to try stock wheels and E rated 265's tomorrow.

Might have to upgrade to a nitrogen charged stabilizer.

try at least putting a stock stabilizer on it if possible. they are alot better than you think they are. hows the wear look on your tires? anything abnormal? what kind of shocks are on the front end? do you have the factory y style steering that came on the truck or have you upgraded to the 98-99 hd?

Just put the 99HD steering on today, shocks are of my 06 with 5000 miles on them when I switched to Bilstien.Tires seem to be wearing fine.

Having trouble finding a 7100,Fox or King stabilizer for the second gen.

set your toe to between 1/16"-1/8" toe in. cam bolts seem to be the happeist somewhere around the noon(straight up) position to the first notch foward. how much pressure do you have in your tires? belive me or not, theres really no reason to have more than 45psi in them. as far as a front stabilizer, the 08.5-up third gen ones will work, youll just have to adjust the clamp on the tie rod to make sure you do not bottom the stabilizer out on a full lock right hand turn.

Got it fixed. Switched to my stock set of tires off my 06(e rated), added another steering stabilizer, tightened my steering gear box a 1/4 turn and noticed the 3rd gen track bar bracket was flexing a little bit when going side to side with the steering wheel. I had to add a washer between the frame and the bracket in order to suck it up tight.

Went down the road at 65+ that caused the wobble at 40.Got an alignment yesterday and all is good.

It looks better in the pics than in person,it has some small dings here and there but the main thing was no rust on the body or underneath, the truck was originally out of Louisiana and has only seen one midwest winter. .It has 153k on it and want to build it up little by little and make it a good solid truck that I can use.Hopefully it will not snowball out of control like my 2006 did. Some 295's or 35's are next along with some towing mirrors.

FYI: Had a wobble show up one day, turned out to be the D rated tires, they broke down structurally even though they looked and wore fine. Just something for folks to look into if they are reading this thread.

My wobble was fixed with an adjustable 3rd gen bar and control arm bushings

I had DW over the summer HORRIBLE. I have a spacer leveling kit but for the first 6months i had it on there it didnt have any death wobble. I had 35in h2 rims and stock bfg ATs that were NEW, after about 5k miles total on the tires and lift and it started DW BAD. I put a steering box brace, new trac bar bushings ball joints, new steering box and new steering stabilizer. The only thing that made any bit of difference is the new steering stabilizer but it did not stop the wobble, if i hit a bad bump it would trigger it. I traded the h2 rims for these 22s/toyos and never had death wobble issues again. :woohoo:

Installing poly control arm bushings made a world of difference on my truck, but the rubber ones were shot.
